Why can't I return my device?

I bought an Iphone4 on Feb 9th at the Verizon wireless store across the street from my home.  We used to drive quite a ways to the Verizon store in another town, so;  this was quite a surprise that they opened one up across the street from my home.  Stores look exactly alike.  I had my phone for 1 week and decided that this phone was way too much phone for me.  I called Verizon wireless last friday and the CS rep told me that I could return it and we discussed other options for a phone for me.  She told me that there would be a $35 restocking fee and this was ok with me.  Sat morning my Husband and myself went across the street to retuen the phone only to be told that the Iphone could not be returned that they are all "FINAL SALES"...........I got on the phone with Verizon wireless and they told me that because I bought the phone from the Verizon retail store and not the Verizon corporate store(the one in the next town where we always went for years) that this phone could NOT be returned.  My Husband was with me when it was purchased because we used His credit card and we were both definitely NOT TOLD that this was a "final sale"!!!!!!!  To say the least we're frustrated, because now I have this phone that I absolutely "hate" and we're locked into another 2yr contract and Verizon will do nothing to help us.  Any ideas?

I work for a Premium Retailer, as they are properly called.  On behalf of all retailers, I apologize for them not fully explaining the return policy.  In order for a store to get the "Premium Retailer" title, they have to adhere to several rigid conditions set forth by Verizon.  If one of the employees told you that it could be returned, you should go back and talk to the manager to see what can be done.  With iPhones, some stores do change the return policy on these devices due to the cost of the device.  As far as the cost of an upgrade, we charge the same price that any corporate store charges and we are typically cheaper on accessories because we get ours from a 3rd party distributor.  As far as customer service, most people that come in our store say that they will never go back to the corporate store again.

Does it say anywhere posted final sale other then he person telling u this? Maybe they just don't want to lose your sale? Does ur receipt tell u differently? I didn't know non corporate don't always have a return policy. I have learned not to always go to a non corporate store. They tend to be more money and sometimes service is not as good, where I'm from. So what made u not happy with the phone? They have been calling about upgrades although we didn't give them permission to look into our account seeing what phones we had and everything. I bought something long time ago and then returned it telling them we weren't happy about the price etc. they had a 30day. All non corporate have authorized reseller to my knowlege. Corporate have just the Verizon logo even kiosks to my understanding they have the same sign with the black stripe without the word authorized reseller. All except Walmart bestbuy RadioShack say reseller. Next time ask what the return policy. I love my iPhone.

Go back and look at the displays. I wonder if this 'store' is selling used units. What is the name of the store and address. I wonder if VZW even recognizes this as an affiliate store.

I agree with u. I was thinking they might be going out of business but she would have known that. Maybe they didn't want to be stuck with it.

dispute the purchase with your credit card (tell them not to pay it) and the if verizon adds the purchase to your bill (since your credit card company wouldn't have paid them) then they will have to explain why they can charge you for it if they told you that you didn't buy it from them. don't know if that will work but it might. it just doesn't seem  that if verizon won't let you return it (although, you are now past the 14 day return period). they can't tell you you didn't buy it from them and then bill you for it. either verizon sold it to you, or they didn't.

I think it is a non corporate store but still there is some ethics they should be held too.

That is why I am interested in seeing the address to see if the store is even a recognized affiliate
