Why do connections stink on iPhone 4S??

Why when I am sitting next to someone with an old Nokia phone - they are they able to make and receive calls and my iPhone indicates No Service?

Why does my data not go through when my "bars" are at 4 or 5? This happens with email - web - maps. This is really a pain when I need maps/GPS and I have a little blue dot telling me where I am - but the back ground is nothing but gray blocks - not a very useful tool - this is a really expensive paperweight at this point.....This happens in a variety of areas and often enough that I believe it is hardware related. I have the latest firmware and have done cell tower updates.

If someone could explain the technology implementation in the iPhone I would appreciate the feedback!

You need 3G or 0 for data connection as well as the more bars the better. Maps do you have location services on? I assume so. Do *228 option 2 to update roaming towers and everything. Do you have roaming on?

I already stated that I did the roaming/tower update with *228 - again - this happens regularly - I want to know what it is about how the iPhone connects both voice and data to the verizon network and why is it so bad for both services......

How come no one from Verizon Wireless stepped up to answer this question with a statement of how voice/data really works on iPhone? Hiding something??

Because this is a peer to peer forum where customers can assist other customers with their questions. Plus while there are VZW reps that roam this community, they don't respond to each and every single question.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
