just switched to the iphone from an android phone- and i'm sort of dying.
i LOVED the customability of the android platform... the clock and calender widgets that the iphone clearly doesn't have.
i really, really, really need to be able to lock things like text messages, email, contacts, etc- is there a way to lock individual apps on the iphone? Not just the phone lock itself, but once the phone is open- a seperate lock?
To the best of my knowledge, no there is no way to lock individual apps...unless there are 3rd party apps available that have that feature. If this and the ability to customize the way that you are used to with Android are important features for you then you may want to reconsider the switch to the iPhone (if it isn't too late for you to return). It really just depends on your personal needs.
There's no way to lock a app on a iPhone without modifying the device that removes any warranty you have on the device...
I agree with kaebfly, it appears that the iphone may not be the device for you because of the features and option you are looking for. Of course this is your decision but if you are still under the 14 day return policy you may want to look into other solutions
What about restrictions? It is a setting in general setting you can do a lot of things and it uses a passcode everytime untill you unrestricted it.
You can have a passcode while your not useing it or keep it off with the power button put it in your pocket.
You can remove apps from the main screen and by I think going into iTunes you can update and have them back.
The restriction thing does camera so it's not shown installing apps anything app market iTunes YouTube etc.
you can do text block online or over the phone. You call remove it.
You can do usage controls to control when data or text can be done as well as how much too.
