canceling data plan

Hi,

So my wife still has LG chocolate and her account has been over due for an upgrade but she doesn't need data plan.

So the first question is can I order iphone 4 which is free now for an upgrade without data plan?

second question is if the phone breaks or something and if she has to go back to old phone, can she cancel data plan without penalty and does she have to pay for the phone or anything like that?

Question #1 - No

Question #2 - Yes(cancel data plan) and No(pay for the phone), however she would have to activate a basic phone back on the line in order to cancel the data plan.

An iPhone 4 will require a data plan; if you want to keep your current calling plan, you can add a data plan to your wife's phone for $30 for 2 GB of data.  If something happens to the phone or she just wants to go back to her old phone, yes ... she can cancel the data plan.
