can I hook up my home printer to my iphone 4s

Actually this is one of the great features on an iphone. Airprint will scan for your wireless printer and print directly to it.

It has to be wireless or connected to a wireless print server or wireless router.

It specifically has to be an AirPrint compatible printer, or it won't work.  There is a PC based workaround as well, but I cannot discuss this here (so I am told).

It has too be wireless on your network or hooked via usb to your computer to a wireless router or print server.

Most wireless printers are air print capable.

It has to be specifically marked as an AirPrint compatible printer for the iPod/iPad/iPhone to print natively.  Just having a wireless printer on the network is not enough.  Fortunately, most printer manufacturers have been adding this feature since the introduction in 2010, and currently over 700 printers are enabled.
