My family updated our phones yesterday to ios6. Today when I imessage any one of the other phones on the plan, all the phones on the plan get the messages. Obviously this isn't good and I can't figure out how to fix it. I sent a message to my boyfriend and both he and my son received the message. When either of them imessaged back (imessage), two of us received the message. Any suggestions on fixing this?

This sounds as if you are all using the same Apple ID. Are you sharing Apple ID's so you only have to pay for apps 1 time instead of once for each phone? This could possibly cause a problem such as this.

Can you tell me how to change the Apple ID on the other phones and create a new one for each of them?

If you use your phone number and not UR I'd when you send it might help if you don't do it that way. I and my husband have same so we can share music and we don't get eachother messages. I send as phone as the identifier under settings.

Hi Keywestsuz!
Good info given so far! I will be more than happy to assist you with creating an apple id. Click to create an apple id http://bit.ly/QZTx1O. Once you have created the new Apple Id you will need to sign in on the device with new id.
Thanks,

On each device you can add a email address, or set iMessages to work with that specific telephone number. You don't have to turn it off.
