I'm new to Verizon and new to iPhones. I've had blackberry's since 2005 and I have never encountered such a horrible battery life with any phone until getting this iphone 4S. I've read all sorts of tips/tricks on the internet and have followed all the suggestions but i can literally view the battery drain as I look at it. It does not come close to staying charged through my work day of 8am to 5pm. I was wondernig if this is normal for iphones and people just deal with it? I called Verizon and they said perhaps I should go back to the store and get the handset replaced as the problem may be hardware related. But from what I've read online, it seems lots of people are having battery issues.
To top it off, some brainiac at Apple decided not to make the iphone with a removable battery like every other phone in the universe. So I can't just buy an extra battery. This post is partially me ranting about my new experience with iphone but also to ask if other people using verizon iphones are having similar issues and what have you done to help it? thanks.

I usually get 7 to 8 hours out of my 4S. A mix of calls, emails, texting, facebook and gaming. Location services are turned off, email fetch is set to manual, and ask to join networks under wifi is off. This eliminated my dropping issue.

Is it shutting down or are you charging at say 55% or do because that last half of the battery lasts a ton longer than the first half
