iPhone 4s battery drains too fast after IOS 6.1 upgrade - any solutions?

VERY frustrated with Apple and iPhones right now ... both mine and my wife's phones need to be charged multiple times per day.  Before this upgrade, we could go a couple days each without charging.  I have disabled all location and notifications.  I also set all my mail accounts to Fetch manually.  None of this helps, and even if it did, why have an iPhone if you can't use the features.

I have had my first iPhone for about 11 months, and my wife's for about 6 months.  Do we need new batteries?  Anybody have a solution?

NO ... reset or restore doesn't work ... tried both.

Good afternoon bigd1. The Apple iPhone 4s is a great device. I know battery life is important to all of us and I want to make sure that you are getting the absolute maximum out of your battery.

How long does your battery last? The expected battery life on an iPhone 4s is 8 hours. If your phone is lasting close to that time frame than your battery is working as it should. If it is lasting considerably less than that, than we may need to look at replacement options.

The battery life expentancy all depends on how you use the phone. Some applications use up more battery life than others. So it would be important to look at the apps you use as well.

Not my experience at all with iphone on another network and 6.1. I am having a problem where all vzw devices ipad and blackberry draining very rapidly. Im wondering if its the network.

Well I have the 4s w/iOS6.1.2 now and I haven't had any problems, and I am on VZW! So I'd take it to your nearest VZW store and have both the phones checked, may be a batch problem if you got them at the same location.

I had this problem when I downloaded the latest software update;  my phone started draining away as fast as sand through a timer. I searched forums and found an interesting cure. The writer suggested that the phone was working though something when I downloaded the software, and that it was now caught in a loop, constantly trying to finish the task. They suggested it was probably email related and to backup email/contact info and then remove all email and icloud apps, and reinstall them. As soon as I removed them my phone was back to its former self. It was at 80% and the next morning had only lost 1%, to 79%. I loaded the apps back on and everything is fine, and back to 2 full days of use before charging - it was just 2 hours at worst.
