I recently was shown an app on an android smart phone that allows you to tether your computer to your android smart phone for internet access. The app only cost $7 and there are no additional charges. Does apple have a similar app for the iPhone ??

With Verizon unlimited data, you have to pay for the Verizon tethering feature. I have unlimited tethering for $30, but it may not be available any longer. In that case, you would have to purchase the 2GB tethering feature for $20 or $30. That's in addition to your unlimited data plan. Tethering if no extra charge for people on the Share Everything plan. People on tiered data plans can use a 3rd party app for no additional charge, if they can find one that works with Jelly Bean.

I don't think Apple allows third-party tethering apps in the Apple Store. So you may be stuck paying the bucks for Verizon's tethering options.
And as for tethering in the Share Plan being "free", I say NO, it is NOT free. It is INCLUDED with the plan but that does not mean it is FREE. And my suspicion is that the tethering is part of that exorbitant Access Fee of $40/mo for smartphones, but the itemization is not specifically broken out in the plan cost.
On tiered plans, the $20 tethering charge actually buys you 2 Gig of additional data, and the line item in the feature list for 4G MHS PROVISIONING is $0.00. Which makes me ask then why can't I have 1 Extra gig for $10 or maybe $5 charge for no additional data on your plan to tether? Charging for tethering by the US Carriers is an unethical example of double-dipping for profit, as most other countries do not charge for tethering anymore.

I didn't say free, I said no extra charge in the Share Everything plan. And yes, he is stuck paying for it because you can't use 3rd party tethering with unlimited data unless you're a crook.
