imessages from iphone to iphone not going through

The last couple weeks I cannot get my text messages from one iphone to another iphone to go through.  It takes like half hour and then it sends as a text message.  What is going on?

I want to ensure we're able to get to your iMessages to complete. Is this only occurring with one particular iPhone? Did this begin after you did the iOS 7 update? Did you reset network settings after noticing the issue?http://vz.to/1cXH7GT

I reset my network settings and it appears to have worked.
