If you had the text messages on an old backup of your phone in itunes, I'm guessing they are still there. You might want to try restoring your phone from that backup.
Help is here lexnamy! We don't store old text messages, but LuvMyLabs is right. Apple's iTunes does have the ability to backup all sorts of great things, including your messages. Check out http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 for all the info about backin up your device or restoring your phone from a previous backup.

Sure, you can recover your lost data from your iPhone,
If the messages exist in the backup, then they can definitely be recovered. Now there are 3 things you can do:-
1 - Goto Apple Genius bar and see if they can help
2 - Restore from the backup:- This will get you all the messages you want, but will wipe out everything that came into your phone since the backup date
3 - Get a backup recovery software:- I have used Vibosoft iPhone data Recovery would definitely recommend it. There are other options though, like the one Cross_46 has suggested, but they are just too expensive. here is review: How to retrieve deleted text message from iPhone without backup.
This post is almost 10 months old. Surely the OP has made a decision on what options are available for the situation they asked about.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
