Try reprogramming your phone to the VZW network. Dial *228, option 1.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Difficult to know if the issue is on your end or the senders end. Does this happen no matter who texts you? Have you done *228 option 2 (not 1)? Even after doing option 1, did you restart your iPhone? Reset or Restore it? Contacted VZW to make sure there isn't some sort of data issue in your area? It's difficult to really troubleshoot it without knowing the details...and in some instances it would still be difficult for any of us users to do so. Your best bet may be to actually contact VZW tech support so they can try and figure out what the issue is...or if the issue is even on your end.
send a text to yourself and see how long it takes
do you have service, can you make a call? are you on wifi? is it a picture or sms
