I Want to buy a unlocked iphone 5s but want to make sure first if it works for verizon and if there is anything I need to watch out for?

Buying from Verizon is the only sure way to know it will indeed work on Verizon. Plus you get Verizon AND Apple support by buying from an authorized seller. The GSM side of the iPhone 5s is unlocked from the factory so no worries about using a foreign SIM card. Buying anywhere else, especially second hand, is a recipe for disaster. Nobody is going to support a device they did not sell themselves, and to expect it to be otherwise is foolish.
