Can't text to a straight talk phone

I can't text a straight talk phone but my cousin who has Verizon can text that same number. Why?

You should be able to send a text, Carlamur.I am sure we will figure this out together. What happens when you send a text? What messaging app are you using?  -AmberF_VZW
