How Can I Tell If A Used Phone Is Compatible On Verizon Network?

Some stole my phone.  A friend has given me a IPhone 5.  Her son gave it to her and she is not going to use it.  She does not know what service he had.  Is there any way to tell if it is a Verizon phone and if I can switch it to my line.

We’ve got you covered Ally43. It’s always important to know if the phone is from Verizon Wireless or not. We have an amazing website to check the device ID in the phone. Please use this link to help. http://vz.to/1W8bD3a

Get a sim and put it in the phone. If it is compatible everything will work if it doesn't then it will not work.

Either way she needs to get a new sim card.
