How can I restore contacts to my iPhone that were deleted, but still in my iCloud?

I recently deleted contacts from a phone that I had given to my daughter, not realizing that the contacts were being deleted form my new phone as well.  Same Apple ID.  Fortunately, I have found that my deleted contacts are still in my iCloud.  However, I am not sure how to restore them.  I tried syncing it to my phone.  Nothing except picture restored.  Please help.

Settings > iCloud > check to make sure Contact sync is on

have you tried signing out of iCloud? then signing back in?

Thanks!!!  I finally figured it out.  I was able to go into iCloud and the restore back to an earlier date.  Not sure what was blocking it before when I tried.
