How do I use wi-fi only when traveling abroad?

My daughter is going to a tech school in Denmark and wants to use her phone for local wifi access (web browsing and iMessage, etc).  This morning we were able to exchange text messages when she was not connected to wifi.  It appears she would have been using cellular without a global plan.  Even with a global plan text/sms messages would cost $0.50 each Smiley Sad

I'd like a checklist of what to turn off so her phone will work on wifi only.

cellular data needs to be turned off.

inside the cellular chocie you will see a roaming option

you need to make sure global voice, global data, and global cdma are turned of to make sure text message and calling will not work

Airplane mode and then turn on WiFi again.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

We have it working now and it appears that turning off SMS and MMS is what we had missed before.

Additionally, it seems that she can only iMessage with someone who has started the iMessage conversation from here in the U.S.   Otherwise, her iMessages are not delivered.

Didn't get to try the Airplane Mode suggestion but it sounds pretty likely to work,,, Smiley Happy

Thanks for the suggestions!
