Isn't there a 14 day window to cancel and only pay a restocking fee? Check with Verizon.

Unfortunately the person who answered was right it is $350. So if you got the 16gig you paid $200 plus the $350 is $550 plus tax. That is a bit cheaper than buying it outright so it's a bit of a deal. But if you went 32 or 64 gig it will be $650 or $750 plus taxes for your total spent including the phone and ETF,
So again a bit of a deal over direct unsubsidized purchasing. But bare this in mind. That phone cannot be re activated on a new account by you or anyone else until the ETF is paid. Also Mdram4X4 is correct again. If you bought it through Radio Shack, Wirefly, Let's talk or some other third party retailer other than Verizon or BestBuy there will be another termination fee added by them. I have read that Radio Shack will and has charged up to and over the full price of the unsubsidized device!

Hello Sepi30!
I am so devastated to hear you want to leave the Verizon Wireless Family! I know the community has provided accurate information regarding the cost of the early termination fee, but why do you want to go?
Is there something that isn't satisfactory with your account, service, or over all experience? Let's figure this out together!
Keep me posted!
Thanks,

I'm curious as to why the OP wants to keep a dead phone and pay all this money in early termination fees. Give it away as a gift? Sell it on eBay? Sell it to a room mate? Because apart from selling it on eBay or other site, the OP might be better off financially if he/she just transferred the contract to the new owner under an assumption of liability. Then there would be no ETF to pay. I would hope it not a kill the contract and stick it in a drawer scenario.

Because he can get it unlocked and be used anyway around the world and save some money rather than buying an unlocked one from Apple. He may not even live in the US.
