Swipe up from the bottom of the screen. click the flashlight icon. It turns it off and on.

Thank you for the answer --I had no idea I had turned it on.  I was working on a photo & when I saw brightness (flashlight) I thought it would make the photo lighter so I had no idea how to turn it off.  Thanks so much!!!
