My data usage according to Verizon went up from around 1GB per month on iPhone 4S to 6GB on NEW IPHONE 5C.
Talked to multiple reps everyone has the same answer and no solution. They won't admit that Iphone 5C has a problem.
They charge me $40 for extra data and after asking them to cancel the extra charge they offer me $20 credit and still no solution
to the problem. I've asked the rep to leave a note to the manager that I will to go to another provider after the contract is over.
Have been Verizon customer for long time and I think they should have wave the extra fees till the problem is resolved. I think they know there is a problem but making money now on data is more important then retaining customers.
Thanks for reading.

Well it is not affecting everyone with an iPhone. I own two iPhone 5s devices and I use just kilobytes or megabytes not gigabytes and although I have unlimited data I am not certain if that is the reason. My wife has another one on sprint and it also uses kilobytes and megabytes not gigabytes. So I don't know if it is phone or carrier dependent.

We have an iphone 5c with the same issue, huge amounts of
data being used which varies from 3GB's to 8GB's with no rhyme or reason. Every
time we talk to a Verizon rep we get the same song and dance about upping the
data plan or turning off the data to some other unuseful advice. It really
pisses me off that they won’t admit to the phones having a problem, especially
after they made us get rid of the unlimited data plan and after being a
customer for about 20 years I'm ready to leave.

You were not made to give up unlimited data. You chose to lose it when you opted not to pay full price for your new iphones. Big difference.
And it is not everyone with an iPhone that has your data use issue. I own two iPhone 5s devices and they both use a few kilobytes to a few megabytes per billing month. Not gigabytes.
There may be a solution there. Note Apple sold a gazillion of these iphones and it is not a widespread issue on all devices.

We are having this same issue. My kids are going through data like crazy. When I ask Verizon what could be going on they say they can't look at my kids phones due to 'privacy issues." I'm paying the bill and I don't think my kids are doing anything bad I just need to know what they are doing to use up so much data. As soon as my contract ends we are changing to a carrier with unlimited data. I've been with Verizon for about 10 years but I'm about done.

My wife's iphone 5s has been eating data like crazy! She used to use 325mb on her iphone 4 but last month and this month has seen over 5gb of use. She NEVER uses that amount of data, even after switching to her 5s. She has had her 5s since Dec 2013 and it only showed up in the past several months. There is something that stinks going on here. My Samsung phones never use that kind of data.
I downloaded her data usage spreadsheet it has been 307mb in just minutes, then one hour later pull down another 306mb?
