Say for instance my mom got new service with Verizon and got the Iphone 5. Does she have to activate the phone or can I just activate it under my account. I already have my own account with verizon. I was reading some where that you can just hook it up directly out the box but what do I need to do?

She would need to have a different phone to take its place and you would need a new SIM card to put it on your number.
Depending where you would buy it it might not be able to be used right out of the box. You might be better if you would be on the same account add a line then use from a whole different account because you can't add insurance from vzw I don't think if your mom is on a different account.

If your Mom ordered the IPhone 5 in her name, then the IPhone 5 is going to have her info stored on the Sim Card. Gina is correct that you will definitely need a new Sim Card with your info stored on it. Also your mom will need a New Phone to take the IPhone 5's place for the Remainder of her New 2 Year Cell Phone Contract with Verizon Wireless at Full Price! Just FYI.

Either way your going to need to get a new sim card. There going to activate it under your moms line then put a new card for your line to activate with a new card. Over the phone they would say no but it will be quicker if you go to a corporate store.

Hi Vdede626,
Let me help you clear up this information. Thanks gina7239 and KEV815PAN for the helpful information. If you decide to get an iPhone 5 using your mother's upgrade on her account, you can still use the same sim card. You would need to activate the iPhone 5 on your mother's account first and then wait 24 hours to activate it on your account.
