Need help activating new device

I received a replacement for my iphone that was giving me problems.  I backed all my info up in icloud, and now that I am trying to activate my new phone, I am trying to set it up using my icloud account.  However, since this new phone still has the old software, it says it is not compatible with my icloud backup.  How can I set up my phone without losing all my info?

Music, videos, contacts, can be pushed to the phone via logging into http://www.icloud.com

use your apple id and password.

Secondly update your device to iOS7 then during phone set up log on via the apple id and password.

Lastly update iTunes to 11.1.1 then hook your device (new one) to get your software and documents etc.

You must remove the prior iPhone before you can register the new device under your Apple Account.
