Are they going to expect me to pay the tax on the original price of the phone or on the discounted price? I preordered the phone from a verizon store and put 400 down on 2 phones. When I pick them up I have to pay the taxes and what not but if I have to pay the taxes on $1300 bucks im going to be pissed!!!

There are 3 states that charge retail on tax. California, Rhode Island, and I forget the other state. If you live in one of those states you will be charged tax on the retail. If not then you will be taxed on the subsidized price. If it makes you upset blame your congressmen.

Yep... Hawaii is planning on adopting that exact same law from California... I don't like it one bit, but at least our tax is 4.5% instead of what was it 13%? Been a while since I have been in California.

I must be thinking of Vegas then lol. I travel a lot and some states have worse sales tax than Europe's VAT. You should lobby and get your friends to do the same to see if you can get that changed.
