Sleep button doesn't lock

My auto lock works fine after 5 mins but pressing the sleep button dims the screen but the device doesn't lock (requiring a password).device afer

To open the device after manual "locking" a slider appears but no password is required.

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your device. Please power the device off completely and power back on. Advise if you are able to use your sleep button after this?

After powering off and then back on the issue exists.

John John.  It may come to a full restore but you can always take it into an apple store. They'll fix or replace free if no physical damage as it should be under warranty
