Strength of LTE reception

My wife and I just upgraded from iPhone 3s to the 5. We also switched providers from AT&T to Verizon, in part because Verizon advertizing and Apple salespeople were indicating that Verizon's LTE coverage is much more robust than Verizon. So I was surprised to note that smack in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, I get a whopping 1 to 2 bars of signal strength. Have I been duped, or is this standard fare for LTE signal strength?

The number of bars isn't important. It is the actual signal strength in dBm that's useful information.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Turn off LTE in your settings menu and you will have full service, 3G with no problems!

General>Cellular>and flip the toggle to "off" where it says Enable LTE.

POOF! Problem solved!
