I recently bought an unlocked iPhone 5 in Switzerland. I browsed Verizon's website to see if I could by a SIM card, but can't see it anywhere.
Is this possible at all? Would I get 4G LTE?

The Switzerland version is likely the GSM only model of the phone. That model will work on the other GSM carriers in the USA. It however will not work with the CDMA voice network used by Verizon Wireless.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Right. And if I'm only looking to use data, not voice/sms/mms, would I be able to get on LTE with Verizon?

No. For one, you can't get a data only plan. And two, it still won't have the right radios to connect. Three, Verizon Wireless doesn't allow devices that are not in their database on their network.
Try AT&T or T-Mobile or any other GSM carrier in the USA.
