What about new iPhones? I have one iPhone 4s and what to buy a new iPhone 5 for traveling abroad. Will I be able to use it with international SIM as soon as I will get it? I do not what to upgrade my current plan but just buy a new phone with month-to-month prepaid plan.

There is no official word on it from Verizon, but the street knowledge is that the Verizon iPhone5 is unlocked to all networks out of the box. So, you should be able to use a prepaid SIM from other carriers and use the phone for most services (4G might not work).
