When my daughter texts me, my message alert does not sound. It does from every other one of my contacts. She is in Canada, and I am in the U.S., but it just stopped chiming about a weak ago.
Try going into the contact (your daughter) and click on edit in the top right. Scroll down below the email address and there is a field titled ringtone. Verify it is on a tone that make a sound.
