Why don't I receive texts from some contacts?

I am not receiving texts from several contacts. At least 2 of them use Droid phones. How can I solve this issue?

Let's get those messages flowing jammhm! Are those contacts with Verizon Wireless or other carriers? What text messaging application are you using? Do you get any messages from those particular contacts or none from them? What's your ZIP code? How many bars of signal do you see on your device when message fail? Please answer these questions and we'll be able to explore options to resolve.
