blue screen of death

I have been having major issues with my iPhone 5s for about a week now. The first time my phone randomly shut down, it showed a bunch of vertical stripes on the screen, then switched to a bright blue screen, and then turned off. Thursday night, the second time it shut down, it showed a light blue screen, and then shut off. I have plugged in my phone a couple times to try and charge it and I have also attempted the recovery mode instructions on Apple's website. However, that has not worked. Can my phone be saved? If so, how? If not, I have someone who is gifting me with an iPhone SE. If I take both phones to my local Verizon store, could an employee take the sim card from my non-working phone (iPhone 5s) and put it in the new phone (iPhone SE)? I am trying to save my phone at all costs, because replacements are really expensive. Thank you so much for all of your help.

It's important to have a working device, whit1792. You mentioned that you have attempted to restore your phone with recovery mode. Were you able to restore your device software using this method? If so, your best option is to replace your phone.

I understand that you will be receiving an iPhone SE. Is this a Verizon iPhone? If so, we are glad to help activate in store. However, you can also move your SIM card to the SE in order to switch devices. Please follow this link for instructions: https://vz.to/2N2iFM9 . If the iPhone SE is not a Verizon phone, you may use the following link to ensure that the phone is compatible with the Verizon network: https://vz.to/2NY0R1I . Does this help?
