email boxes inbox and unread have 4996 in them but there is actually none

All of a sudden 4,996 appeared in the bubble over my Mail icon.   I go in and look and there is 4,996 in the Inbox and in the Unread box....but actually there is None there.  It just says there is 4,996.   How do I get rid of the 4,996?

May I ask does the 4996 emails show up on your comcast email on the computer? Can I assume that this is a personal email or is it a business email? No they did not show on computer

Yes it is a personal email account

They have disappeared from the

Bubble. The only thing I did was to

Go in and make sure all boxes were

Empty. Did not see one with 4996

Some had very small amounts
