My iPhone 5 froze while I was trying to open an app. I cannot turn it off and the computer does not recognize it. The screen is still "live" but tapping it does nothing. Any ideas?

For future reference, when dealing with a frozen unresponsive iphone, one way out is to hold down the home button and the power button simultaneously for about 10 to 15 seconds. This will shut your phone down.

Are you running iOS 8.1 yet on your iPhone 5? My wife has one and it acted funny with the earlier iOS 8 software. Ios 8.1 corrects a lot of the issues people have been having with their phones. I upgraded my wife's iphone 5 last night and it works a lot better
