how do I permanently delete a contact?

I noticed that after I've deleted some contacts from my iphone 5, their names still pop up when I try to compose a text message. How do I permanently delete contacts so their names don't still show up in SMS or MMS caption?

You can't with out doing a hard restore I have the same problem. I don't have the contact in my contacts but when I get in to send a text there name pops up in the search. I hope this helps you
