Just received the iPhone 5. When switched on, it shows 5 bars and LTE. Over the following 30 seconds, it slowly drops down to one bar. When I make or receive a call, it jumps to 5 bars again. However, when I disconnect, it slowly drops back to one bar (dropping one bar at a time every few seconds). Any ideas?

is that happening in more than one place or have you not had time to kind of compare being in other places. No idea though why it would do that, for my normal non Apple phone it usually cuts it down when i connect to wifi

Phone calls have different bars then data. Data can go up and down quickly but as long as your 4g you should be fine.

I dont think the iPhone 5 has bars for LTE, it usually only shows signal quality for calls and a LTE icon for LTE... Correct me if I am wrong, this may have changed.

These posts have been helpful. I did several speed tests of my phone on 4G and the download speed was about 3 mbps. I don't believe that's anywhere near what 4G can do. I am wondering if anyone with an LTE iPad experiences the same issues?

@dpny - Have you tried powering your phone off and removing the sim card for about 30 seconds to see if the phone maintains it signal better?
Everyone, let us know if your signal has stabilized or if this helps you as well.
Thank you everyone, and take care!
