I tried this and it did not help. This has happened to me in the past after an iOS update and always seems that a tardy carrier settings update takes care of the issue.

I took the phone to a Verizon store and swapped out the SIM card. It still
didn't work. The prognosis was there is a hardware issue inside the phone,
perhaps the internal antenna. Fortunately I had a spare phone from my
kiddos previous upgrade that I could use - until I upgrade again.
