I live in Dana Point, CA and have been a Verizon customer for about 10 years. In late 2012, I switched from a feature phone to an iPhone 4S. With the 4S, I immediately began experiencing very poor reception where I live in Dana Point. Calls would drop frequently. It didn't matter if I moved around or stayed in one spot in my house. Sometimes, a call would drop multiple times.
Back in July, I upgraded to a 5S. Same exact experience. It is very frustrating to invest in a so-called top of the line smart phone and experience reception so poor. Friends who have the same phone but different carriers don't have the same problems.
Why is coverage in Dana Point so poor through Verizon? I've experienced this issue for several years now and there has been no improvement.
