iPhone Data Plan Question?

I am due for an upgrade It's about time for me to switch from my ENV3 to an iPhone 5. However, I am part of a family share plan with my parents and brother. All of us have phones that do not have data plans and I would be the first to switch to a data plan phone. If I do, would my whole family have to switch from our current share plan to that new share everything plan just because I upgraded?

No. As current customer you can add $30 data to your line with the new iPhone.

Or you can Go on a Shared Everything and put you iPhone as the Data Phone and your Folks and Brother would use the plan as Basic phones)

Tiered data is being extinct. I think tierd data is only an available option for people that have had a smartphone currently but have had unlimited. I think the everything plan is even for people that only have 1 line.

If you want the everything plan or have no choice in it you can stay on the same account but have the line be on a sub level meaning a separate page on a different bill. Whoever is the account owner will stay that way. You would only need to do this if you all on a family share. You can't have two family shares on one bill.

Current customers were grandfathered into their plans when the Share Everything plan was introduced.  Unless a customer is on a really old plan (in other words, the plan is not compatible with current phones), when they upgrade from a basic phone to a smartphone, they can choose between adding a tiered data plan (i.e., $30 for 2 GB) for that line OR switch the entire account to Share Everything.  I do know that if a customer is currently on a Nationwide family share plan, that they have these options.

Nube here. Can you go into a bit more detail on this if possible? I have a VERY old dumb-phone that is under with the Americas Choice plan, month to month/out of contract.  Yeah, I know, its THAT old.   I will be upgrading to an I5, and wanted to know what the non-Share Everything options were, if any?  There was a mention of tiered plans, (2, 4, 8, 10?) but I lost the thread it was in.  Any info on what the voice minutes would be on this plan?  I went through a great many threads to even see that the may be an option.

I would suggest you contact Customer Service for verification ... I doubt that you'll be able to add a tiered data package to the Americas Choice plan due to its age, but I could be wrong.  If you can, then the minutes part of your plan won't change, you'd just add a tiered data package (they start at $30 for 2 GB of data).  If you can't add a tiered data package to your current calling plan, then your only choice with Verizon is the Share Everything plan, since that's the only current plan being offered.  Info. at this web site may help:
