My Iphone 5s keeps returning to the homescreen when i am trying to type or text.  How can I fix this?

I know how upsetting it can be to have to start all over when typing a text or anything on your iPhone. We want to help fix this for you so that you can go back to typing text with a breezy. When did this issue begin? Has there been any recent changes to the device including software updates? Is this happening only when trying to type any characters for messaging or is it anywhere?
