Same here. Galaxy Note 2. No voicemail icon in the notification bar. Every support thread I've searched says to go into personal options on VM and choose the option to show notifications. I would, except on the VM menu, I am not presented with that option.
Very frustrated. This started two weeks ago and I am missing voicemails because I don't know I have any.

Hi there, pcurrid,
I know how important those voicemail notifications are. Are you just calling voicemail? Or are you using the Visual Voicemail app? How long have you been having these troubles? Did it start with any update or app downloads? We certainly want to get to the bottom of this with you.

Hi:
The problem started 3 weeks ago when I bought a replacement phone. My
original phone under the contract, a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, broke, so I
bought a used one. Same model.
I put my original sim card in the replacement phone, and everything works
as it should except that I do not get the little voicemail icon in my
notification bar if someone leaves me a message. The only way I can see if
I have a message is to dial to my voicemail, but that is not a convenient
option because I don't think to dial my voicemail unless I know I missed a
call.
I have regular Verizon voicemail, not the visual voicemail.
In setting up my phone, I installed dozens of apps -- all ones that I had
used on my original phone.
One thing that doesn't work, which has been suggested for this problem, is
to go to my voicemail settings, personal options (4) and choose 1 for
'notifications'. However, 1 is not an option on that menu for me.
Thank you.

Thanks for the information. On your previous phone, were you dialing *86 each time to access your voicemail or were you using the app? When you are in the menu system for the voicemail, are you able to find any option that says “Message Waiting Indicator On or Off”?

On my previous phone, if there was the voicemail icon in the notification
bar, I pulled it down and tapped on it, and it brought me to my voicemail,
where I'd enter my password and then if I said I had a message, I could
press 1 to hear it. Or I'd hit the Phone icon, which took me to my dialer,
and I'd press 1 to speed-dial my voicemail, then hit 1 to listen to my
messages. I never used the Verizon Voicemail app on my old phone to access
voicemail.
On my replacement phone, I've used the Verizon Voicemail app, and I've
dialed *86, and I've gone to the phone and hit number 1 to speed-dial my
voicemail. I can hear any messages that might have been left, but I don't
get the icon in my notification bar to let me know I've got a message
waiting.
Currently, no matter how I access my voicemail, I do not get the option of
“Message Waiting Indicator On or Off”. I can change my password, turn
on/off pager notifications, etc. But nothing about message waiting
indicator on/off.
Is there a phone number I can call for help? That might be easier.
Thanks,
Peggy

Thanks for checking. We do have many different ways to contact us: http://spr.ly/6583By1Bh
There is another option we can try if you like. Please go to settings >> application manager >> swipe over to ALL >> find the voicemail app >> clear data/cache. The turn it off and back on.

Your suggestion about going to the application manager, clearing the
voicemail app's data/cache, and then restarting has solved the problem. I
had actually tried that a few times and didn't work, but it did the trick
this time.
Thank you for your help!
