Can't see where to plug power cord into phone....

Phone is in a case. I see a slot at the bottom but it's not adapted for the power cord to be inserted.

Your case may have a port cover.

cord is inserted under home button.

I concur with mama23dogs. Also, if your using a Mophie type phone case / battery you may need to use the provided micro USB charging cable that came with the phone case. More than likely it is what Mama23... is saying.
