Cannot find my iPhone

Seems I misplaced my iPhone and cannot locate it. I tried find my iPhone on the computer with iCloud, it's saying the device is off line. I know the iPhone is turned on along with the settings to locate the iPhone. I had a couple of friends call my number to see if we could locate it. It's a iPhone 6s plus 128 GB.

I had used the phone at home then went to a store I'm pretty sure I took the phone with me, but not 100% sure. Did go back to the store to see if it showed up, it did not.

This is the 1st time I've lost a phone that I haven't been able to locate. So does anyone have any advice on what procedure I might take if it doesn't show up in the next day or so?

I've decided to touch base with Verizon tomorrow and have them wipe the phone and black list it. Then pull away from these high end smart phones. When all is done this year I'd have about $1600 into this iPhone 6s plus 128 GB.

I have 3 desktop computers and a laptop, so I really don't need to keep a high end smart phone. I once had a Samsung Intensity 2 cell phone. Which did great text, calls, and pictures. So basically am going to go back to that. I don't really need a mini carry around computer and pay insurance on, where a basic cell phone would serve me just well. And yes I have insurance to replace the iPhone.

If it says offline it means either the battery died or someone powered it off so it couldn't be located. Find My iPhone (or any other location service) won't be able to locate it or wipe it until it is powered back on.

Hi kaebly, thanks for the good post. I've now been able to trace the iPhone on the computer. They erased my contacts and started adding in their own, lol. So I gave the list to the police and they're in the process of retrieving the iPhone, so I'm curious to see the outcome. I didn't contact Verizon yet but believe they might have been able to wipe the iPhone by disabling the Sim and then blacklist with the serial number which I have?

No that wouldn't have wiped the phone. Only way you can remotely wipe the iPhone is via Find My iPhone. They may have been able to blacklist it from being activated under a new account but I'm not sure. But if you kept it on your Apple account they would need your Apple ID and password to do anything.

Hi Kaebly, you're likely correct in wipe the iPhone via Find iPhone with iCloud. I think Verizon can blacklist the iPhone but haven't requested that with them at this time.

The iPhone was stolen out of a pick-up truck. Spent time trying to locate via iCloud with Find iPhone but wasn't able to locate at the same times it was turned on. Received a email from Apple in regard to how iCloud was being used with photos and the iPhone when it was going online.

In going back to iCloud under Contacts mine were deleted and a entire new group of Contacts created, who I didn't even know. The police were giving the Contact list and doing well very well with it, they already have an idea who has the iPhone. So should hear something by tomorrow.

Kind of glad I pursued it rather than just using the insurance right away and blacklist the iPhone. I don't know what condition the iPhone will come back in and may still have to file a claim? But at least they're not gonna just have a iPhone even if it can't be activated properly.
