Got my son an Iphone 6s for Christmas. He can text people with Apple devices only. I have gone through every troubleshoooting article on the web for solving issues with text from i phone to android and still can not get the issue resolved. Any suggestions?
You can try to reset network settings.. which will wipe out any saved Wi-Fi networks:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You may need to try another SIM card, which you can get free from a store. Also, make sure no blocks are on the line via My Verizon.
This should have nothing to do with wifi networks. There is a setting under iMessage which allows messages to be sent as SMS/MMS if iMessage is unavailable. Make sure that setting is turned on.
Have you turned on the "Send as SMS" tab in your Messages settings?

- Send as SMS Toggle should be slid over so that the tab shows green. Meaning it's turned on.
