How do I know which calendar my phone opens?

I have probably messed this up myself, and I could use a lot of help fixing it.

I don't know how my calendar that you just click to open was set up.  I wanted to put a birthday reminder on it. The next thing I knew, it opened all calendars associated with iCloud, three emails and another one just said Other.  Now, I have no idea which calendar is the "default" calendar and how to get back there.  Just now, when I opened Calendar from my screen, it opened to Edit Calendars, with sources from Yahoo (and below that my name and US Holidays), ICLOUD, then Other. 

All of my appointments I had already put in are gone, and I added a birthday reminder, but now it is showing birthdays for people I had no idea about.  You see how clueless I am here?

I sure could use some help with this.

   Barboh, at some point Yahoo Calendar if there is one was added as an account or synced to. Can you remove it from the Edit Calendar. And also try going to Settings > iCloud - and turn OFF Calendars which may stop the merge with iCloud for the time being.

  It's seems what your trying to accomplish here is to get back to just the Calendar that came pre installed on the iPhone that shows up on the Home Page?

Yes, you are right about where I was trying to go with my calendar.  Unfortunately, I ended up with one calendar that won't let you put in appointments or anything else except what day it is.  Now, when I open the calendar, and select Calendars at the bottom, there are two listed. A Yahoo one and an Other one. They both have US Holidays, and I can't edit anything else out.

I really appreciate the link to imore, and saved it in mt favorites.  But, I have an appointment at the Apple store Genius Bar tomorrow regarding another problem, so I'll just see if they can help me with this also.  I really do appreciate your response.  Thank you!

Hi Loren

I was able to figure out the problem I was going to the Genius Bar for, so I cancelled the appointment. As far as the calendar, I just enabled the iCloud calendar again minus all the holiday notations. So far, it's doing OK.

Later today or tomorrow though, I will be asking you all how I delete everything from my iPhone 5S before I send it to my niece (who is getting very impatient with me )
