I am receiving an unlocked iphone 6 and already have an existing Verizon account that I'd like to add it to. Will that work?

I've heard that Verizon either 'won't do it', 'can't do it', and depends on the phone.  HELP!

What is the source of the unlocked phone.  If it is from Apple and is the SIM free version, then t works no problem, just like a Verizon phone. 

If it is an unlocked phone from a different carrier, Verizon will not activate it.  If you put an already Verizon active nano SIM in the phone, it works, but you will not get month to month discount and it shows up online as unrecognized device.
