My husband's work phone number is listed in my contacts, yet when he calls it shows up as UNKNOWN. When I call him it shows as his contact info correctly. When he calls our home land line it shows correctly. It only shows UNKNOWN on my iphone (and this has happened ever since I bought it in December). So far this is the only number I have noticed this with. All other contacts display correctly, even other business phone numbers.

It was finally referred over to the network team and here is their answer. Apparently it is stemming from the phone system in my husband’s workplace. And he has not had a chance to address it with them. Until he does I don’t know if it will fix it or not. And I don’t want Verizon disabling any features on my phone. Just wondering, is your Dad’s landline in an office setting or home?
Here is the info below with my husband’s office phone number X’d out at the bottom….
This is what we are seeing and needs to be updated on the system. Please forward this to the system admin to get it corrected:
For the caller ID to complete from the PBX, the Numbering plan in the IAM message should be changed to (ITU-T E.164).
Currently, we are getting the numbering plan on the Calling party number as: 0 (Unknown) in the incoming SS7 IAM, as seen below:
++++++++++++++
Start Time 01/25/2016 10:55:53.400417029 -0500
Calling party number
Parameter name (10) Calling party number
Parameter length 7
Nature of address ind (0) Spare (no interpretation)
Odd/even indicator (0) Even number of address signals
Screening indicator (0) Reserved (user prov. not screened)
Address pres. restr. ind. (0) Presentation allowed
Numbering plan (0) Unknown (no interpretation) <<<<<<<< This field should read: Numbering plan (1) ISDN num. plan (ITU-T E.164)
Spare 0
Calling Address Signals `757668XXXX`

The temporary workaround we discussed is to completely disable VoLTE features, although this will only be a temporary solution as it will not fix the root cause. Disabling VoLTE features must be done by deactivating the Advanced Calling settings on the device AND also fully de-provisioning the Advanced Calling 1.0 features from billing through MyVerizon or Customer Care.

That is really odd, Lexi, but I have come prepared to get this fixed for you! For clarification purposes, what is the make and model of your husband's device?

Lexi52, thanks for that clarification. You have a great new device. Have you deleted his contact and then created a new contact for him? Did you previoulsy have an android device prior to activating this iPhone?

Yes, I have deleted the contact and created a new one, twice. Still comes up as unknown. I previously had an iphone4.

Do you happen to subscribe to Verizon - Caller name ID? If so there might be a setting that hides a callers number? It seems to indicate that in FAQ's #6

Lexi52 - Having a number come up as unknown when you have it stored in your contacts can be a pain. Have you tried to delete the number and add it again? Is his mobile number and work number stored as sepearte contacts? Does this happen only when he calls your number?

I have tried twice to delete and add again. Still comes up as unknown. No, both numbers are stored under his contact name. It only happens when he calls my number from his office phone. When he calls our home landline from his office phone, it shows the caller id number. When he calls my iphone it just shows unknown. This did not happen until I upgraded from the iphone 4 to the iphone 6.

Lexi52, this is a mystery to us too. When calling your cell phone from work, does your husband have to choose an open extension to place that call to you? Does his phone numbser show up correctly in your caller ID when you calling you directly from his cell phone?
