When I call someone from my phone the person cannot understand me.  They say I sound muffled

Do you have a case on the phone that may be covering the microphone?  Is the microphone opening clogged with dust or lint (it happens when you carry the phone in a pocket)?

The community has offererd some helpful tips. Are you still having an issue with the sound?

If so, we will start with the basics. First, power the phone off/on. Make a call and switch to speaker phone. Does it sound the same, better or worse with speaker phone enabled?
