My iPhone 6 has started getting hot when I make calls. It does not do this when I am using my apps. Thoughts?

Oh no! I know that the iPhone 6 is one of the hottest smartphones but I didn't mean literally! Let's cool things off with your phone. Have you adjust your setting to extend battery life? If not, here's a link to check out, http://apple.co/1xnEkjF. Also, do you close out the apps that are running in the background to ensure proper resource management? Here's a link on how to do so as well. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5137. Once you have done so, please retest & keep us posted.
Thank you…

Yes, my phone is set to optimize battery life. I close out my apps that are running on a consistent basis (several times daily). I also performed a "reset all settings" two days ago to clear out any potential quirks. Nothing helped.

it could be that you have a lot of apps running in the background while you are on your phone. make sure to close all of your apps by double pressing the home button to bring up the app switcher and swipe up on the displayed apps to close them.

If your cell signal is on the low side, the phone will need to bump up transmission power and will get warm.
