Need to buy iPhone 6 at Verizon to keep the unlimited data?

I have the grandfathered unlimited data plan.  Can you buy an unlocked iPhone 6 outside Verizon at full price and keep the unlimited plan?  Or will I need to buy it at Verizon?

Hello Cattledogs,

Having the comfort of Unlimited Data is always nice to have. I know that it is a nice safety net. You are able to purchase a phone outside of VZW, but we are not able to guarantee that it will work as it normally would as if it was made specifically for VZW. But you may certainly try to activate the device. I hope that helps, thanks!
