An answer to a question was this "Check the phone's data utilization tool to see what it reveals. Also, another test would be to disable 4G/LTE before going to bed and force everything over to WiFi." How do I check my phone's data utilization tool and turn off 4G/LTE?

Dkb59mba, thanks for you patience. I want to make sure we properly address your concerns. You can check your data utilization here > http://vz.to/2a3mWtz You turn off your data by going to Settings> Cellular> Turn off the cellular data switch. Does this help resolve your concerns?

Which phone do you have? If an Android, go to Settings > Data Usage and you should see options to turn off cellular data and to view data usage by app.

That's a great phone, dkb59mba!
You can check the utilization by going to Settings> Cellular> scroll to the bottom to see what is enabled to use Cellular Data.
Also, to turn it OFF, you can go to Settings> Cellular> Cellular Data- OFF. (The bubble will be white.)

To add some further detail, when you go to Settings > Cellular, and scroll down, it will have a list of the various apps and services on your phone. Each will have an on/off switch to the right that you can toggle to control if that app is allowed to use mobile data. Each app will also list how much data it has been using underneath its name. You want to be looking for anything that has any number of GB under its name, or a large amount of MB. Anything using KB is extremely small and can be ignored. This will let you know what app has been using the most data, so that you can avoid using it when off Wi-Fi in the future, or just disable mobile data for it altogether.
Or, as said, you can just turned off cellular data altogether to avoid the problem, but you'll need to turn it back on any time you need an online service and not connected to Wi-Fi.
