Swapped phones - both receive calls and messages simultaneously

Son just activated his iPhone 6 and husband took the iPhone 4 he was using.   When I try to call or text husband, son also received text or call.   Even stranger, son receives text messages intended to go to husband.   Anyone have this occur?  Chat is busy right now..

This is a common occurance when trying to swap iPhones. When you swapped the phones out, did you completely wipe them before activating them on the other line? Are they sharing the same Apple ID? Please provide additional information. Thanks.

hmmm- good questions.  The 4 was not wiped.   The 6 was brand new.  I am checking right now to see if there is a chance to Apple ID registered on the 4 is my sons.

It was the Apple ID - Logged out of that and took care of the problem.  Thanks!
